Orville David Durden

Orville David Durden, 81, of Kelso, Washington, passed away on November 20, 2023, from cancer.

 

Orville was born on July 8, 1942, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Millard Lloyd and Viola Elvie Durden. He graduated from Chehalis High School, in Washington, in 1961. After two years spent in the reserves, he was enlisted in active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1963.

 

In 1964, Orville began working for United Parcel Service, was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and married Karen “Kay” Wood on October 17. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on August 1, 1972.

 

Orville was a very committed provider for his family, working his entire career with UPS. He enjoyed teaching his kids to fish, and served as Scoutmaster for 13 years. After he retired in April of 2001, he golfed some, fished a lot, watched football on TV, and enjoyed spending time at home with Kay. 

 

Orville was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Earl Donahue, step-mother, Lou Durden, and brother, Earl Donahue Jr.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, their six children: Jeffrey Durden (Paula), Daniel Durden (Stacey), Dennis Durden (Cyndi Thompson), Sara Glover (Chuck), Amy Bracy (Layne), and Lloyd Durden (Alyssa Evans), siblings: Charlotte Conover, Rosella Cristler, and Donald Durden (Linda), grandchildren: Brittany White (Jesse), Joshua Durden, Jacob Durden, Luke Durden, Megan Durden, Emily Durden, Mark Durden, Daphne Durden, Kylie Glover, Seth Bracy, Gabriel Bracy, Dakota Durden, Jaydon Durden, Brody Durden, Kyson Durden, Warren Evans, and Louis Evans, and two great-grandchildren: Carter and Moses White.

 

Services will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, beginning with the interment at 11:30am at Green Hills Memorial Gardens, 1939 Mt Brynion Road, Kelso, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 1pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2884 N Pacific Ave, Kelso, Washington.
