Florence Mable Hegwine, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4th, 2026, at the age of 91. Born in Clarkston, Washington, on September 9th, 1934, Florence's life was one shaped by faith, humility, and warmth that touched everyone she encountered.
Florence attended school in Elk River, Idaho, where the foundation for her values of kindness and perseverance began to take root. Early in her adulthood, she entered the workforce, first embracing the role of waitress in Lewiston, Idaho. Her smile and gentle spirit made her a favorite among patrons. Later, she found her way into retail, working in the shoe department at J.C. Penney—first in Lewiston, Idaho, and then in Kelso, Washington. Throughout her working years, Florence was known not just for her dependability, but also for her ever-cheerful demeanor and the caring way she treated colleagues and customers alike.
Faith was at the heart of Florence’s life. As a devoted member of Northlake Church, she found deep joy and community among fellow worshippers. The joy of music brightened her days, and she spent many happy hours singing with the church’s joy group, filling the sanctuary with her harmonious voice. Her compassion and sense of service reached beyond the church walls as a dedicated member of the Elks Auxiliary, where she contributed her time and generosity to causes close to her heart.
Florence was truly gentle spirited—always humble, caring, and eternally friendly. Her home was a haven, blooming with the color and vitality of her beloved garden. She took great pride in her flowers, nurturing them as she did her beloved family. Hands busy and heart full, Florence found joy and solace in crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that became treasured gifts passed down through generations.
She found her greatest happiness in the company of family. Florence is survived by her children: sons William C Hegwine Jr and Robert E Hegwine; daughters Barbara J McCoy and Bonnie L Hegwine. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, each of whom she held dearly in her heart—as well as in the countless memories and traditions she passed along with loving hands.
Florence now reunites in eternity with her husband, William C Hegwine Sr, and her daughter Mary J Hegwine, together with her parents, Ralph and Alma Rosenberger. Their memories remain cherished by those who knew and loved Florence best.
Florence’s humility, kindness, and joyful warmth will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a shining example of love and grace—a legacy of gentleness, service, and unwavering faith.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Florence Mable Hegwine’s life at Northlake Church, 2614 Ocean Beach Hwy, Longview, WA 98632, on August 15th, 2026. The service will begin at 11:00 am, as we gather to honor her, share our memories, and rejoice in the beautiful life she shared with us all.
