Jerry Dorsey Herriford

March 11, 1939 — October 6, 2021

Jerry Dorsey ‘Jake’ Herriford, 82, of Centralia, Washington, left this world surrounded by his family Wednesday, October 6, 2021, following an extended illness. Jake was born March 11, 1939, in Centralia, to Harold Dorsey and Wilma Bythella (Denning) Herriford. He attended Centralia schools, and graduated from Centralia High in 1957. He enrolled at Centralia College from 1958 to 1960, and then joined the National Guard, serving in that capacity from 1960 to 1964. A lifelong adventurer, Jerry worked several jobs throughout his lifetime, including West Coast Groceries and the Centralia School District, but it was at the Centralia Steam Plant that he met his true love and wife of 47 years, Barbara ‘Bobbi’ Lowe. After the plant closed, Jake went on to work for Consolidated Electric (CED) and retired after 25 years.
Jake loved to hunt from a young age, and was the first to own a yellow Labrador Retriever, whom he named ‘Sandy,’ in Lewis County. Additionally, he was an avid fisherman and camper; and coached baseball for over 20 years- starting with sons, Todd and Tal, and finishing with Jeff.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Wilma; brother-in-law, Theron Ticknor; and nephew-in-law, Ron Chadwick.
Jake is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Todd Neumann and his wife Deanna; son, Tal Neumann Sr. and his wife Lori; daughter, Tia Neumann; and son Jeff Herriford and his wife Shawna; grandchildren, Drew and Sara Neumann, Tal ‘TJ’ Neumann, Jr. and his wife Lauren, Kassandra Neumann, and Harper, Hank, and Nash Herriford; great-grandchildren, Tal ‘Trey’ Neumann III and Mavis Neumann; sister, Linda Ticknor; nieces, Lauren Chadwick and Amber Cruzan and husband Chris; nephew, Rod Ticknor and his wife Cyndi; great-nieces, Holly Perkins and Lauren Ticknor-Squires and her husband Griffen; and great-great niece, Abby Taylor.
